Our Troubleshooting Process
Effective troubleshooting follows a systematic process — not guesswork. Our engineers:
- 1. Identify the symptom. Gather details — error messages, when it happens, what changed recently.
- 2. Isolate the cause. Test components individually to narrow down the problem (software vs hardware, OS vs application).
- 3. Form a hypothesis. Based on symptoms and test results, propose the most likely cause.
- 4. Apply the fix. Implement the solution — whether it's a driver update, registry fix, malware removal, or component replacement.
- 5. Verify. Confirm the original problem no longer occurs. No fix is “done” until verified.
Remote Computer Troubleshooting
Most computer troubleshooting can be done remotely. Through Fixspert's Remote Assist feature, an engineer can securely access your computer online to read error logs, run diagnostics, test hardware, install updates, and apply fixes — all with your explicit consent and full audit logging. Remote troubleshooting is faster, cheaper, and available worldwide.
When remote troubleshooting isn't enough
If the problem is physical hardware (dead motherboard, cracked screen, broken power jack) or the computer won't boot at all, remote troubleshooting can't fix it. In those cases, our engineers will diagnose the issue remotely (if possible) and recommend whether onsite repair is needed.
